About Me
- Name: portland international house of prayer
- Location: Portland, Oregon, United States
When some friends of a paralytic man heard that Jesus was IN THE HOUSE, they did everything they could to get their friend into his presence. They even took off the roof of a house and lowered him in on a mat, most likely strung up with ropes of some sort. All this after fighting their way through a standing room only crowd that flooded out of that house Jesus occupied. The friends did this for two reasons. One, they had a great love for their friend. Two, they knew that only Jesus could heal him. In the House Ministries exists for two reasons. One, we love the city of Portland. Two, we know that only Jesus can heal this land.

In the House Ministries exists to train, encourage and equip the body of Christ in the areas of prayer, worship, evangelism, prophetic, ministry to the poor, spiritual warfare and the creative arts. The Downtown House of Prayer is established to provide 24/7 worship and prayer for the city of Portland, Oregon. This blog is just for fun, but perhaps over time it will provide some insight and stimulate discussion surrounding the above areas.

cup and saucer
Rev 5:8-10
Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.
The concept is simple: mix the worship and the prayer together. Come to proclaim His worthiness, ministering to Him, and receive in that place of intimacy a power and authority that will be released in the earth to bring about His kingdom purposes.
While Mike Bickle has been blessed with a large community of like minded folks who take this concept seriously, we have made due with the few of us who gather during sessions throughout the week and have found a style that seems more like "us" (whoever the "us" may be at the moment)
we have gained a great deal from our friendship with those at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City (check out the link), but at the same time we are determined to accurately represent the church of Portland here in our house of prayer. Underlying principles remain very similar. How it plays out sometimes varies.
we have also learned much from our friends at 24-7prayer in the UK (there is a link for them as well) and look forward to many more days of ministry together with them as well.
when it comes down to the question "what do you do in the house of prayer in Portland?" we have to answer "whatever seems right at the time". We plan, we give structure, but we flex. Sometimes we come exhausted, worn out, weary from the constant pressures of life and all we can do is throw in a cd and try not to fall asleep. Sometimes we come full of faith, passionate and overwhelmed with the promises God has given us. You never know, really, what will take place when you come by.....except that you are very likely to meet God, at least if you are really looking........
